With a total length of 264 kilometers, the Datong-Jungar Railway extends from Datong city in North China's Shanxi province to Jungar Banner, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
As a western extension of Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway, this section, which opened to passengers in November 1997, is owned by coal producer Shenhua Group Corp.
