Nafie Ali Nafie Ahmed, assistant to the president of Sudan and vice chairman of the Sudan National Congress Party, said Africa will promote its international status through economic development.

"Africa now has great potential to develop its economy because most of Africa's natural resource has not been exploited and used," Nafie said.

In the background of the worldwide financial crisis, Africa, with the advantage of abundant agricultural resources, energy and mineral resources, has a better opportunity for economic boom.

Nafie said economic development will provide Africa a good opportunity to promote its international status.

"Africa should get rid of the constraints of old concepts and models and cooperate with undeveloped countries like China and other Asian countries in various fields like trade and culture, in order to realize development," he said.

Nafie has been in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, for the 2013 ICAPP Special Conference, which will close on May 31, 2013.
