When American David O'Dell first came to Beijing in 1995 to study Chinese, he never expected he would be an indispensable part of a musical movement. Fast forward to today, and he still has a place for Beijing in his heart. Watch this episode to see the softer, compassionate side of punk rock.
He has written a book called Inseparable, the story of punk rock music in Beijing. Since becoming a teacher back in his hometown of Austin, Texas, "Skinny Dave" is passionate about helping children. That is why he organized a punk rock concert at 2Kolegas, in cooperation the charity with Half The Sky, to raise money for Chinese orphans. The sales of his book, as well as ticket sales and the auctioning off of rare items from the 90's Beijing punk scene, will all be donated to Half The Sky.
