HSBC Ambassadors unite ahead of Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens

HONG KONG -  The most capped international rugby player in history, Brian O’Driscoll, joined fellow HSBC Ambassadors - Waisale Serevi, George Gregan, Jonathan Davies and Gavin Hastings today at the iconic Hong Kong Stadium ahead of this weekend's Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens.

Having got his first look at Hong Kong Stadium, former Ireland Captain O' Driscoll commented, "The Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world and having stepped out onto the pitch, I've got really excited about this weekend. Visiting these great stadiums always reminds me of my own playing days but I'm very happy to now be joining the fans in the stands to watch the best Sevens players in action."

Legendary Sevens player Waisale Serevi was last night awarded Rugby World Readers' Greatest Sevens Player of All Time Award in association with HSBC at the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union's 40 years of Sevens Gala Dinner. The Fijian is returning to Hong Kong as part of the HSBC Rugby Festival powered by Serevi, an international grassroots programme introducing the sport to thousands of children around the world.

"I felt so welcomed when the kids were cheering and singing as we arrived. Having been all over Hong Kong this week with the HSBC Rugby Festivals, I have seen first-hand the growth of the game in the area" said, Serevi. "This has been helped by local stars emerging in the Hong Kong sides and I really hope they can become a core team in the HSBC Sevens World Series very soon".

To commemorate HSBC's 150th Anniversary, 150 enthusiastic youngsters from Concordia Lutheran School greeted the HSBC Ambassadors. The local school children were sporting the winning T-shirt designs from the HSBC sponsored 'Support Hong Kong Team' T-Shirt Design Competition.
