The 11th edition of the Beijing-Tokyo Forum will be held in the Chinese capital in late October.

Jointly staged by the China International Publishing Group and the Japanese nonprofit think tank Genron NPO, the event will focus on "Challenges to Sino-Japan Relations and Measures to Better Mutual Ties", centering on the two nations' role in facilitating Asia's future growth.

There will also be parallel sessions to discuss diplomatic ties, the economy, security, cultural affairs and issues that two neighbors both confront.

"The Beijing-Tokyo Forum was founded at a difficult time for the two countries, over the years, it has always helped to create friendly understanding and valuable consensus between the two," Wu Jianmin, a member of the Foreign Policy Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. "We value the relationship with Japan and hope to work more to deepen ties".

"For 10 years, we've conferred very effectively through the people to people dialogues that the forum provides," Yasushi Akashi, former UN under-secretary-general said. "We hope the next 10 years will see an even better picture".
