A wedding ceremony featuring elements from the 19th century novel Alice's Adventure in Wonderland was the highlight of a "Makes Memories That Last" wedding show at the Hilton Sanya Yalong Bay Resort and Spa in Hainan province.

Three other themed wedding packages were also included in the hotel's presentation.

Stephan Stoss, general manager of the Hilton Sanya, said the venue had held 43 wedding ceremonies since its opening in 2006 and had seen rapid growth since the local government set a target to make Sanya a wedding destination in 2012.

According to Wang Feifei, deputy director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission Sanya has become a popular wedding destination for the domestic market. Wedding travel as well as MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) tourism and family travel have become important branches of the city's tourism industry.

According to the tourism authority, the city has hosted more than 600 high-end wedding travel groups with revenue of more than 150 million yuan ($24,525,833) in wedding photography and related services.
