China’s disciplinary authority has dealt with almost 17,000 violations of the Party’s Eight-Point Rules, China Central Television reported on Monday.

By the end of September, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China had tackled 16,699 people. Of these, 3,721 people received punishment, the report said.

In December, the Party’s leading body introduced the Eight-Point Rules for officials, asking them to exercise thrift, cut back on extravagance and shorten meeting times, according to the report.
