HONG KONG -- Hong Kong's Financial Secretary John Tsang will leave for Russia on September 3 to attend the Group of Twenty (G20) Leaders' Summit to be held in St Petersburg as part of the delegation of the People's Republic of China, according to a local government press release on Friday.
The G20 is the leading international co-operation forum, focusing on the most important international economic and financial issues. The 2013 Summit, which is going to be held on September 5 and 6, will mainly discuss boosting economic growth and job creation. It will also discuss the latest developments in the global economy and financial system.
In addition to the G20 Leaders' Summit, meetings between Tsang and top Russian officials are also lined up to strengthen economic and financial ties between Hong Kong and Russia.
Tsang will return to Hong Kong on September 8. In his absence, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury K C Chan will act as Financial Secretary.
