Xi Jinping elected Chinese president

BEIJING - Xi Jinping was elected Chinese president Thursday morning at the ongoing session of the 12th National People's Congress, China's top legislature.

Xi, born in 1953, is also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
