SEOUL - The Republic of Korea (ROK) Sunday urged Pyongyang to stop any provocations or threats using conventional weapons or weapons of mass destruction.

ROK Foreign Ministry in a statement condemned the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s threat of a nuclear war, saying such threats would only aggravate situations further and isolate the country if Pyongyang conducts any provocations.

The ministry also urged the DPRK to take concrete and effective actions to improve human rights in accordance with the UN resolution.

DPRK's National Defense Commission announced a statement earlier in the day, saying it "completely rejects and denounces" UN human rights resolution.

The commission warned that it will enter an unprecedented "war of super-hawkish countermeasures" against the resolution, according to the statement carried by the DPRK's state media.

DPRK has conducted three nuclear tests since 2006, the latest in February last year. ROK's defense minister said Thursday that there had been no immediate sign detected over the DPRK's another test.
