BEIJING - A vice-minister of foreign affairs will attend the upcoming Geneva talks on the Iranian nuclear issue, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said on Tuesday.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Baodong will attend the talks on Wednesday and Thursday in Geneva, which will see negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany.

Hong said China hopes the parties will create conditions to resolve the issue in a comprehensive, long-term and proper way.

There has been a positive tendency in Iranian nuclear talks and major parties have showed political willingness to solve the issue, said the spokesman.

"China hope all parties can accommodate each other's concerns and expand consensus in an effort to make progress and stabilize the situation," he added.

Hong reiterated that China, as always, is committed to promoting peace and talks, and will continue to play a constructive role in pushing forward the talks towards achieving ideal results.
