BEA flight 609 crashed on its third attempt to take off from a slush-covered runway at Munich Airport, with 44 passengers on board, breaking in two after crashing into a house on Feb 7, 1958. On the plane was the Manchester United soccer team, along with supporters and journalists. Eight players and three club officials were among the 23 fatalities. [Photo/IC] |
