CAIRO - Egypt's interim President Adly Mansour on Sunday ordered to form a fact-finding committee to investigate violent events following the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi, state-run Ahram website reported.

Mansour issued a presidential decree and declared the formation of the new committee during a national dialogue with political powers to discuss the country's transition roadmap.

The committee was formed at the request of Khaled Dawoud, spokesman of the Constitution party, who stressed the necessity of looking into the post-Morsi violent events and the enforcement of the rule of law.

Egypt has been hit by nationwide violence and street clashes since the ouster of Islamist president Morsi on July 3. According to Ahram, more than 1,000 Egyptians, mostly Islamists, and around 100 security personnel, have been killed in the violence.

The five-member committee, headed by Judge Foad Ryad, has to submit a report within six months.
