PARIS - French President Francois Hollande and British Prime Minister David Cameron on Wednesday condemned the assassination of a British soldier in the suburbs of London after their meeting in Paris.

One man, believed to be a British soldier, was killed by two attackers near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich in Southeast London on Wednesday afternoon. The other two were also wounded in the incident, according to Britain's Metropolitan Police (MPS).

Speaking to the press conference following talks with Hollande, the British prime minister condemned the attack as the "most appalling crime" which appeared to be terror-related.

French President Hollande, for his part, expressed "full solidarity" with British leaders and the people, while stressing the need to fight against terrorism.

Cameron cut shot his visit in Paris and returned to Britain for an urgent investigation into the attack.
