DAMASCUS - At least three people were killed and another 20 injured when triple blasts targeted the main gate of Syria's interior ministry in the capital Damascus on Wednesday evening, local media said, adding that the death toll is preliminary.

The blasts also damaged the ministry's facade, reports said, adding that one of the blasts was caused by a booby-trapped car.

The pro-government Ekhbaria TV aired live footage of the blast site, showing pools of blood and piles of debris and burnt concrete.

The TV also showed footage of an inside part of the ministry with broken walls and smashed windows. Piles of debris and twisted metal were seen in the footage.

No one claimed responsibility for the blasts, but previous ones in the country were claimed by the al-Nusra Front, an al-Qaida- linked terror group which has recently been branded as a terrorist group by the U.S. administration.

The interior ministry's blasts came at the end of a day with multiple explosions. Earlier in the day, four roadside bombs went off in Damascus' suburb of Jaramana and at the parking lot of the main courthouse in Damascus, leaving at least one person killed and some others injured in addition to great material damage.

Blasts in Syria have become daily routines, especially in the capital Damascus, where armed militias are trying to wobble the Syrian administration's grip on power.

The Syrian government says it is fighting jihadists and Takfiri groups linked to the al-Qaida terror network.
