British Airways launched new direct flights between London and Chengdu on Sept 23.

After Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai, the city known as the hometown of pandas is the fourth Chinese city to offer direct flights to the United Kingdom.

Tracy Dedman, the airline's regional general manager of greater China and the Philippines, talked to China Daily about why British Airways chose to launch new routes from the capital city of China's Sichuan province. Dedman also discussed the company's plan to accommodate Chinese customers and upcoming ticket promotions.
