A man with passion for China

In this edition of Big Talk, Ravi Shankar, executive editor for China Daily’s European, North American and African editions talks about his 11-year media experiences in China. He has just been given the prestigious 2013 Friendship Award, the highest prize for foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China's economic and social progress.

He is closely involved in many important China Daily projects, including revamp of China Daily Business Weekly in early 2005; launch of 24-page China Daily in early 2007; coordinating coverage of Sichuan earthquake in May 2008; helping produce 32 pages daily for The 2008 Olympic Games; conceiving and coordinating 80-page special edition to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China in 2009; launching European Weekly in December 2010 and Africa Weekly in 2012; and conceiving and coordinating 72-page special bumper issue to mark China Daily’s 30th anniversary.
