Ekaterina Ilyakhina, from Russia, founded the Hand-to-Hand Chorus in Beijing. The Chinese singers in the chorus don't speak Russian, and she doesn't speak Chinese.
Ekaterina's husband, Yury Yakhin, has been helping and supporting her chorus financially and spiritually since its conception in 2003. Yakhin majored in Chinese at Russian State University, and China has been an inseparable part of his life since his graduation.
The chorus now has 28 members, and many of them have been there since the start.
This is their story.
