Bing'an, an ancient town to rediscover the past

Bing'an ancient town, located next to the Chishui River, in South China's Guizhou province, has a history spanning more than one a thousand years. Bing'an used to be an important gateway between Sichuan and Guizhou during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.

The place is known more for its geographical features than its scholarly importance. Not only does the township stand on a cliff overlooking the torrents of the Chishui River, it also forms part of the Danxia landform, which was included among the list of World Natural Heritage sites last year.

A suspension bridge spans the Chishui River, where you can get a panoramic view of Bing'an town and the lofty mountains around.
