Comment on "More than 1,000 auto companies are probed" (China Daily, Aug 13)
I am from the US and I have been living in China for the past 10 years. I think all sectors of the economy need to be supervised and probed for wrongdoing. Foreign companies operating in China are taking advantage of the Chinese people just because they are foreign.
For instance, let us take Levi's clothing. A standard pair of pants, which are made in China, costs roughly $25 in the US. But despite being made in China, a pair of Levi's pants costs more than $100 in the country. Why? Just because of the brand name? The list goes on and on, and it's ridiculous.
The Chinese people should stand up and break the monopolies created by foreign brands. I welcome the government move against foreign companies.
