Richard Wagner's opera Lohengrin (pictured) is the mythical tale of the mysterious Knight of the Grail, who wants to defend the princess Elsa but is wrongly accused of the murder of her brother. The most popular and recognizable part of the opera is the bridal chorus Here Comes the Bride in Act III, which is slow and sweet, serious and sensitive. Today, couples still choose it for their weddings. The year 2013 marks the 200th birthday of opera master Wagner, and the National Center for the Performing Arts will present Wagner's opera, by cooperating with director Giancarlo Del Monaco and conductor Lu Jia.
7:30 pm, Dec 4-9. National Center for the Performing Arts, 2 West Chang'an Avenue, Xicheng district, Beijing. 010-6655-0000.
