CCTV’s New Year Gala goes international

China Central Television will broadcast a four-hour gala on its channels 1, 3, 4 and on its English Channel at 8 pm on New Year’s Eve.

The gala’s stellar cast will include both local stars such as pianist Lang Lang and singer Tan Jing, but also international celebrities such as Sarah Brightman and Spanish tenor Jose Carreras.

Some of China’s most popular hosts will participate in the show, such as Zhu Jun and Dong Qing.

Starting on Dec 21, CCTV’s Channel 3 will broadcast a 30-minute preview of the gala every evening. And from 12 pm to 8 pm on Dec 31, the channel will reveal behind-scene stories of the gala.
