The 38-episode series develops its storyline through a feminist perspective and uses a fast-narrative pace similar to American action series.
Heroes of Defense, a 32-episode series, portrays the Chinese armies' heroism and patriotism in the Xiangjiang Battle, which saw 6,000 Red Army soldiers sacrifice their lives during the Long March.
The series began airing on CCTV-1 on Oct 17 and is now also available on video-streaming site IQiyi.
