Beijing and Hanoi have jointly sent positive signals in furthering stability in the South China Sea, as well as good management of their divergences, as Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on Monday.

The two-way meeting was made on the sidelines of the Special China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting, which will be held on Tuesday in Yuxi, Yunnan province.

Wang said the two countries should further implement the consensus reached by the party leaders and jointly champion peace and stability.

The Vietnamese senior diplomat said his country was ready to "properly tackle maritime differences" based on the leaders' consensus.

The two diplomats highlighted bilateral efforts in boosting strategic links between the two countries, namely the Belt and Road initiatives proposed by China and the "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle" proposed by Vietnam.

Wang said China was ready to gear up the linking efforts and achieve cooperation in production capacity for the early harvest.

Minh said Vietnam would continue advancing high-level exchanges with China and promote the link between the two strategies.
