NANNING -- The former vice mayor of a city in south China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for taking bribes, a local court ruled on Friday.

The Intermediate People's Court of Fangchenggang city also confiscated 400,000 yuan ($62,650 dollars) of Lu Qinhua's personal property.

Lu, former vice mayor of Qinzhou city, pled guilty to accepting bribes of 5.56 million yuan from 2003 to 2014. A total of 5.06 million yuan was seized, the court said in a statement, and authorities are pressing for the remaining 500,000 yuan.

Born in 1962, Lu became Qinzhou's vice mayor in December 2010. He was investigated for "serious disciplinary violations" in June 2014.
