A zoo in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, has nurtured 50 koalas over the past eight years, becoming the world's second most successful animal sanctuary in rearing the marsupials after Australia.
The Chimelong Safari Park, in the city's southern Panyu district, first introduced six koalas from Australia in 2006, and the world's first koala twins were born there in 2007.
After introducing four more early this year, the zoo now has five generations living together. A meet-and-greet was staged on Monday allowing visitors to interact with the animals.
