Gas leak causes major fire in Lanzhou

A gas leak caused a major fire in a processing plant of Sinopec, China's largest oil refiner, at Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province, on Monday morning, according to China Central Television.

At 8:39 am, about 300,000 tons of gas leaked from a fractionating device in the plant, causing the fire, the report said, adding firefighters have rushed to the site.

By 10 am, no deaths or injuries had been reported from the fire, the report said.

No gas or water pollution had been reported by that time either.
