Former Jiangxi vice-governor comes under investigation

A former vice-governor of Jiangxi province has been reported to have tens of millions of yuan in bank accounts and more than 10 houses, 21st Century Business Herald reported on Friday.

The Central Disciplinary Committee of the Communist Party of China announced that Yao Mugen, a former vice-governor of Jiangxi province, was under investigation on March 22, after he was reported to have a huge amount of property from unidentified sources.

The report said Yao's wife, Yi Anping, an official with the provincial quality and technical supervision administration, was also taken away for investigation on March 27 by discipline inspectors.

Yao used to be in charge of the province's departments of agriculture, forestry, water resources and land resources, and had the power of approval for many large projects.
