Political adviser expelled from Party

A senior political adviser of Huizhou, Guangdong province, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from his public office for serious violations of Party discipline and State laws, according to a statement published on the official website of the Guangdong Party discipline inspection commission.

Deng Bingqiu, former vice-chairman of the Huizhou City Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was investigated by the province's top anti-graft body after he was reported to have committed violations last November, the statement said.

Deng who was also investigated for allegedly accepting large sums of bribe money while in office will be transferred to the judicial department for further investigation and possible prosecution, the statement said.

Deng, born in 1957, is the latest senior Party and government official to have been sacked and placed under investigation in Guangdong province since February.

The Guangdong Party discipline inspection commission has investigated 11 prefecture-level Party and government officials since Jan 31.

Other prefecture-level officials investigated in recent weeks include Wu Zhouchun, former general manager of Guangdong Provincial Grid Co; Wang Kewei, 51, deputy director-general of Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology; and Zhang Ming, deputy Party chief of Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology.

Last year, 31 prefecture-level Party and government officials were investigated in Guangdong.
