Deputy head of petition office under investigation

The country's top discipline watchdog said on Thursday that they have launched an investigation into Xu Jie, deputy director of State Bureau for Letters and Calls, also known as the National Petition Office, over serious violations of the law.

The Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Central Committee of the CPC posted the news on its website.

Xu, 58, was also a member of the Party committee of the bureau, the country's top complaint hearing office.

He took up his position in the bureau in June 2005.

No further details were given.
