Chinese rescue team leaves for Philippines

A 17-member Chinese rescue team departs from Beijing Capital International Airport to provide humanitarian aid to the disaster-stricken areas in the Philippines hit by Super Typhoon Haiyan on Nov 20, 2013. China has provided 10 million yuan ($1.64 million) worth of relief goods to assist communities devastated by Typhoon Haiyan, apart from $200,000 donated by the Chinese government and China Red Cross. And the first batch of Chinese aid for survivors has arrived in central Philippine city of Cebu, a relief goods distribution center, on Monday evening.[Wang Jing / chinadaily.com.cn]
