Japan's surveillance highly provocative: China

BEIJING - Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun said Thursday Japan's surveillance of a zone used by the Chinese navy for drills is "a highly hazardous act of provocation."

The Defense Ministry has lodged a stern representation to Japan, Yang told a press briefing.

The zone is in the west Pacific Ocean.
