Stunning views in Badain Jaran Desert

A beautiful view can be found near a lake in the Badain Jaran Desert, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, June 18, 2013. Badain Jaran Desert, the third largest desert in China, is located in Alxa Right Banner, the west of Inner Mongolia. It covers an area of 47,000 square kilometers, and contains Bilutu Peak – the world's highest stationary dune rising over 500 meters and peaking at 1609 meters above sea level. It is often referred to as Qomolangma, and is also known as Mount Everest in the West. The desert also features over 140 lakes that lie between the dunes, although its annual precipitation is less than 40 millimeters. Beautiful views attract visitors from both home and abroad.
