Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts launched charity project Postcards from the Heart, on Tuesday, which will see a collection of postcards designed by children be sold from their China businesses to benefit the 5 Colours Foundation.
The hotel aims to raise 1 million yuan ($158,730) for the Foundation, a non-profit organization in Sichuan province that supports disabled students, including those who survived the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan and the 2010 Qinghai earthquake
"Thirty-five Shangri-La hotels on the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will join forces in this fundraising effort," said Patricia Gallardo, director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability, Shangri-La International Hotel Management Limited.

"The 5 Colours Foundation, which was established by renowned artist Zhou Chunya in 2009, will use the money raised for the art for the disabled scheme, which helps promote the artistic talents of the children in its educational programs," she said.
To create the Postcards from the Heart, Shangri-La selected artwork by 5 Colours Foundation students who have been trained by Zhou Chunya. The collection of postcards, priced at 40 yuan or HK$50, are available for sale at all of Shangri-La's China properties.
In conjunction with the Postcards from the Heart launch, the Heart and Hope are exhibition, featuring work by the foundation's students opened at Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu the same day.
"This is the second year that the hotel has co-hosted an art exhibition organized by the 5 Colours Foundation. The artwork will be displayed on the hotel's first floor until Feb 28 next year," Zhou said.
