China, Kazakhstan to enhance military cooperation

BEIJING - China and Kazakhstan agreed to enhance military-to-military cooperation after senior officials of the two countries' armed forces held meetings here on Wednesday.

Fan Changlong, vice chairman of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Military Commission, said during a meeting with Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, Kazakh Defense Minister, that to further strengthen and deepen military ties between the two countries is in the fundamental interests of the two countries and two peoples, and is conducive to the peace and stability in the region and the world at large.

Fan also briefed guests on the 18th CPC national congress.

State Councilor and Defense Minister Liang Guanglie also held talks with Dzhaksybekov on Wednesday.

Liang hailed the healthy and stable development of China-Kazakhstan relations, featuring high-level visits, increasing political mutual trust and fruitful cooperation in various fields.

Chinese armed forces is ready to work with the Kazakh counterpart to strengthen bilateral coordination and cooperation and that within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, to push bilateral cooperation and exchange to a new high, according to the defence minister.

Dzhaksybekov said at the meetings that the Kazakh Armed Forces are willing to increase visits and exchanges with the Chinese side and expand pragmatic cooperation in various fields.

Dzhaksybekov also congratulated the success of the 18th CPC national congress.
