A shop that sells merchandize featuring characters from the works of Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki has become popular among white–collar employees since its opening in Shanghai on May 1.
The Donguri Republic Store in Shanghai is the first officially authorized outlet by Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli to open on the Chinese mainland.
Located in the Metro City, a shopping mall in Xujiahui district, the store has attracted many fans of Miyazaki since its launch.
Studio Ghibli is one of the leading Japanese animations studios and creator of highly international acclaimed movies such as "My Neighbor Totoro", "Spirited Away", and "Kiki's Delivery Service".
