Miss World beauty contest to start in Sanya

More than 800 guests, including Sanya municipal leaders, representatives of the Miss World Organization and journalists from China and other countries attended the party. Yue Jin, deputy mayor of Sanya, delivered a welcome speech. He stressed that Sanya is the only city where five Miss Worlds have been crowned.

"The Miss World pageant is the best platform for Sanya to show its unique fascination. It will also contribute to the development of the international market of Sanya, and will quicken Sanya's steps on the construction of an international tropical coastal tourism city," he said.
