BEIJING - Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan said Friday that he hopes bilateral ties between China and Vietnam can be advanced.

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with Dinh The Huynh, secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's Secretariat and chairman of the Central Theory Council.

Developing friendly relations with Vietnam is a consistent policy of the CPC and the Chinese government, Liu said, adding that China is willing to work with the CPV and the Vietnam government to fully implement the agreements made by the parties' leaders, enhance strategic mutual trust, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and properly handle differences.

Liu said he hopes both sides can further enhance communication, learn from each other and improve their ability to govern.

Liu also briefed Huynh on the CPC's "mass line" education campaign.

Huynh said Vietnam values its friendship with China and will always remember the assistance and support it has provided to Vietnam.

He said the CPV and the Vietnamese government are ready to work with China to enhance communication, expand pragmatic cooperation and create a new chapter in the two countries' relations.

Wang Jiarui, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the meeting.
