Cooperation in science and technological innovation are the key factors to explore the potential among emerging countries, said an article in People’s Daily. Excerpts:

China sent a satellite made jointly with Brazil into the space last week with a rocket built by China itself. This was the 200th launch of this serial of rocket, and another important achievement in the two countries’ aerospace cooperation that dates back to 20 years.

China and Brazil’s successful cooperation on earth resource satellite shows the potential of science and technology cooperation among the emerging economies, and sets a good example for such ties.

Improved cooperation can help the emerging market countries to generate more driving forces for quality and sustainable economic growth, and make the bilateral trade and cooperation more balanced.

The stagnant global economy and restructuring reforms at home have pushed most emerging market countries into an adjustment phase. The cooperation among these countries has also slowed down. Strengthening cooperation in science and technology innovation can help them reverse the declining trend, and overcome the temporary difficulties.

The emerging countries have already realized the importance of science and technology cooperation, and made it a key area of collaboration in future. The milestone Cape Town Declaration published recently at the first minister conference on science and technology innovation among BRICS countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, draws out the cooperation framework of the science and technology innovation cooperation among the most important five emerging market countries.

China attaches great importance to science and technology cooperation with developing countries and emerging markets, and pays attention to draw on the complementarily among different countries for mutually beneficial cooperation, which will contribute to the rebalance of power in the world in the long run.
