23rd Beijing International Book Fair to open on August 24

The 23rd Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) will run at the new China International Exhibition Center in Beijing's Shunyi district from August 24 to 28 this year.

A total of 2,407 publishers both from home and abroad will take part in the six-day book fair, which includes the following six parts: Children's Publishers, International Publishers and Publishers from Hong Kong and Taiwan Rights Center, Creative Lifestyle Festival, Publishers from the Chinese Mainland, Digital Publishing Zone and Sales Zone and Library Distribution.

Also, it is worthwhile to note that film and TV IP trading market will be set up for the first time in the history of the book fair, aiming to promote the further integration of the news publishing industry and the movie industry.

Meanwhile, Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) will act as the Guest of Honor for the first time in the book fair. They will focus on the publishing trade and businesses and hold a series of book-culture-oriented activities.

In line with previous years, more than 30 renowned authors and critics from China and foreign countries including the United States, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Peru, Croatia and Japan will be invited to give talks to visitors.

Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexandravna Alexievich, winner of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature, will also attend the book fair and talk with readers at a book salon.

The BIBF, which first launched in 1986, is the third largest book fair in the world, after the Frankfurt Book Fair and the London Book Fair.

This event showcases products like services and education that support the buyers and sellers of books etc. In the Printing & Publishing, Education & Training, Paper and Paper Products industries and in the book industry.
