Dia is still adjusting to her new-found status.

She described participating The Voice audition as a "dream" and she did not expect to make it that far.

"I joined the show only because I wanted to promote our album Cocoon," she recalled, referring to Meg & Dia's fourth album. At the time, they had no label and little fanfare greeted their performances.

Her singing won over the hearts of the audiences as well as her coach, Blake Shelton, who stated that "when I heard your voice, I began to smile".

Later she toured with Shelton, who also produced Dia's solo album Red. She also opened for The Fray in their sold-out US tour in the US Midwest and the West Coast from April to May 2011 before Dia launched her own solo US tour from February to July 2012.

"I am extremely nervous before I sing. I still think I could forget the words or screw up a note. But when I walk on stage, I feel like I have come to the right place," she says.

She started singing at the tender age of 9 when she got a Leann Rimes CD from her father and since then writing songs has come naturally.

Dia reveals she's moving forward with her solo career, although she'll still works on things with her sister and band.

"Meg is still playing in the band with me and even helped me write for my album Red. She even co-produced a couple of the songs," she said.

"I am grateful that she still remains very present in my life."
