BEIJING - Prosecutors in Guangzhou, capital of southern Guangdong province, have indicted former vice governor of Hainan Province, Tan Li, on a charge of bribe taking, according to a statement issued by the Supreme People's Procuratorate on Tuesday.

The indictment alleged Tan sought profits for others and accepted "a huge amount of bribes" while acting as a a member of the standing committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Chengdu municipal committee in southwest Sichuan province and vice governor of southern Hainan province, among other posts.

Tan's case was exposed in July when the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection announced an investigation into him for "suspected serious violation of discipline and laws."
