Chinese president to attend G20 Summit in Australia

BEIJING - Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the 9th G20 Summit in Brisbane, Australia, and pay state visits to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

The Summit is slated for Nov 15 and 16 while the state visits are from Nov 16 to 23, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang announced on Friday.

Xi will also meet with leaders from Pacific island countries that have diplomatic relations with China, Qin said.

Xi was invited by Australian Governor-General Peter Cosgrove and Prime Minister Tony Abbott, New Zealand's Governor-General Jerry Mateparae and Prime Minister John Key, and Fiji's President Epeli Nailatikau and Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
