RABAT -- China was ready to work with Morocco in a joint effort to set up a strategic partnership, visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here Monday.

Since China and Morocco established their diplomatic relationship 55 years ago, relations between them had developed well, Wang said during  talks with his Moroccan counterpart Salaheddine Mezouar.

China would like to establish a China-Morocco strategic partnership as soon as possible, and deepen and broaden cooperation in various fields and on different levels, he said.

Mezouar, for his part, lauded China's determination to boost reform and opening-up, and its sense of responsibility in driving global economic growth through its self-development.

The two sides agreed to enhance exchanges in government, legislative, political and other fields, and increase political and consular consultation within diplomatic agencies to deepen mutual trust.

China and Morocco would also strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and infrastructure construction, and jointly conduct africa- and Europe-oriented industrial cooperation.

In the international arena, the two countries would increase communication and coordination on UN Security Council reform, anti-terrorism and other important international affairs to safeguard the legitimate rights of developing countries.

Wang and Mezouar signed two separate agreements on economic and technological cooperation and waiving visa requirements for bearers of diplomatic and service passports of the two countries.
