BEIJING - China will provide emergency humanitarian aid to the Philippine government in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, the Ministry of Commerce said Wednesday.

Relief supplies, including tents and blankets, will be delivered to the Philippines soon, the ministry said on its website.

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday conveyed condolences to his Philippine counterpart Benigno Aquino III.

Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest typhoon in the country's history, hit central Philippines on Nov 8. Latest official figures showed 2,275 people have been killed in the Philippines.
