China to invest $73m to protect Tibetan lake

A total of 448 million yuan ($73.23 million) will be spent to protect Nam Co Lake in Tibet autonomous region, southwest China, pictured Sept 16, 2013. The region will invest the money for the lake ecosystem conservation, pollution prevention and environmental supervision. Nam Co means "sky lake" in Tibetan and is the second largest salt water lake in China. It is also the highest salt water lake in the world with an altitude above 4,700 meters. [Photo/Xinhua]
