Changsha official sentenced for taking bribes

Peng Zaikui, former deputy secretary–general of Changsha city government, capital of Central China’s Hunan province, has been convicted of accepting bribes, and was sentenced to ten years in prison, according to Hengshan county court in Changsha on Tuesday.

Peng accepted bribes worth 3.32 million yuan ($538,000), according to the court.

The court said, Peng, 51, used his job to accept, or arrange for his family members to receive, properties from 11 real estate and construction bosses, then offered them help for contracts and projects.

The court confiscated his personal property worth 500, 000 yuan.
