China is willing to work with all parties to complete the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership as soon as possible to boost regional trade, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

Shen Danyang, the ministry's spokesman, said the country will continue to deepen reform and actively participate in all talks of constructive multilateral and bilateral free trade arrangements with related countries, regardless of the direction the Trans-Pacific Partnership takes.

His comment came after US President-elect Donald Trump said he would withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership on his first day in the White House as one of six immediate steps aimed at "putting America first".

Wang Huiyao, director of the Center for China and Globalization, said this move may provide "great opportunities" for China to work out a wider trade agreement as a better alternative.
