Sharing interests through Belt and Road Initiative

At the opening of the Business 20 (B20) Summit, President Xi Jinping said the aim of the Belt and Road Initiative is to share development opportunities and achieve common prosperity with countries covered in the initiative.

Taking the initiative as a major topic, Xi exchanged ideas during his meeting with heads of state, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The benefits of the Belt and Road Initiative have been felt in infrastructure development. According to Jin Liqun, president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the AIIB has approved $500 million loans to four infrastructure projects respectively from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and Tajikistan.

Infrastructure projects backed by multi-lateral development banks are likely to be a trend in the future.
