Liu Shiyu, China's former top securities regulator, was under investigation for alleged violations of the law, according to a statement Sunday from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Liu, who turned himself in, stepped down in January as chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, a position he kept for three years before being replaced by Yi Huiman.
The central commission said in the statement that Liu is cooperating with the probe.
